#EdGames : Where Ed Meet Games And Gamers meet Educators

I’ve been toying between the education and games worlds for ever. Really, it’s been years. At the risk of sounding ridiculous – I always played games. And I’ve always learned. Education is probably the later of them all. Had to become a parent to an education-system child to really get into it. But it wasn’t […]

Age of No Age

"...Not because they are young or old. Because it’s all about how and what you communicate. We live in an age and a professional environement where aga has the least significance it ever had. Whether you are 20 or 60 if you have a valid idea and you know how to communicate it - you have a chance at success..."

Collaborative Project: Humanity’s Face

There’s a say “when the guns are roaring the muses are quiet”. As if inspiration is out during times of war, when survival is what occupies our minds. Yet, some wonderful works of arts are known to be inspired by or created during war time. I’d like to say that I am inspired by peace, […]

Currently working on... or what's that got to do with education?

Just launched my startup - www.saveby.com; - and it has nothing to do with education. Or does it?

Officially - not. Saveby is a platform for self-serve group shopping. I hope the going through this startup will help me reach my next startup, my education related startup, which requires a much larger investment.

But - what does it have to do with education? In a way, Saveby is attempting to educate and change the way people do shopping today. Changing shopping habits seems a lot easier then changing education paradigms. Perhaps this is because the shopping arena was never something as constructed as the education system (or systems, where ever they are). Shopping, market places, in the most part, was run by the people, the mass, the mob, the market forces. They are those who drive the prices of tomatoes up or down. But when it comes to education, the market forces are paralyzed by the governments control. The voices of the clients - that is the students and their parents, isn't heard. Even those at the front of the shop - the teachers and principals lack the real power to change.

But I hope that things are starting to change. The internet is slowly but surely shifting more power to the people and more people are voicing their opinions, desires and intentions. I listen to these voices every Tuesday when I join #edchat on twitter, and almost every day in discussions on FiresideLearning. Hope to see you there too.

Life cycle of a social network

I am being criticized for trying something new.

For establishing my own network.

That's a pity. I was actually hoping for encouragement.

My network is not "a project". It is experimental, as there are no networks attempting to do the same that I know of.

What my network is trying to do is to connect mostly students from different countries to collaborate on their homework and studies.

Since various countries have different syllabus, not to mention different cities and… Continuer

What is SPAM?

To avoid confusion here is the definition copied from thefreedictionary.com:
spam (spm)
n.
Unsolicited e-mail, often of a commercial nature, sent indiscriminately to multiple mailing lists, individuals, or newsgroups; junk e-mail.

Connecting students around the globe

I have a vision where students connect with their peers from around the world. Why? Because it's interesting. It's challenging to create global friendships, across cultures and across seas. And it's interesting to learn what other are studying. Even the very precise studies, like math, are not exact all over the world. Sometimes you need help figuring out a problem and someone from across the world, who studied it in a different way, will offer that different angle that opens your eyes. This is… Continuer

The Hebrew Language re-invented

Prolog:When I began my journalistic career I had to write 3 test stories. One was an interview with a starting mime name Eno (Hanoch) Rosen. He was 23 at the time and chose a very unusual profession for himself. Now he is one of the leading directors of musicals and theatre shows in Israel.

The second was a story about the fishermen at the port of Haifa. I joined them at 4AM and covered a working day.

The third was a research about Itamar Ben-Avi, the eldesto son of Eliezer…

Hebrew Poem

Pride / By Dahlia Rabokovits

Even rocks break, I am telling you

And not for old age.

Many years they lie on their backs through heat and cold

So many years

They almost seem peacefull.

They do not move and so the cracks are hidden

Sort of pride.

Many years go by with expectation.

Who is about to praise them has still not come.

And the mold flourishes, seaweed excited and the sea comes and goes

And they seem unmoved

Until a little seal… Continuer

Hi Or-Tal,
Kiriati (greek background?) ~ sorry for my late and short reply; as I am very busy at the moment I just wanna say I will check out more of your contributions to our common networks and go in deeply; surely a one-sided view is never helpful and I am very eager to get through the jungle of informations and I am quite good in that - at least I feel I am on the right way ...

see you soon ...
cheers
