What's the ocean like where you live?

I love the ocean. When I visit, it is like my soul is slowly being reflected back to me. The isolation and the vitality, the wasteland of the sand or the stony loneliness of the rocks, slippery from algae and waves. I've lived on both coasts. I grew up on the east coast, never more than 15 minutes from the beach. When I moved to Oregon, the ocean seemed so far, at least 90 minutes away by car. And the ocean was different, too.
